The factory Magnetic Ride system — the single most expensive long-term liability on a Gen 1 R8 once the dampers begin to weep — has been removed and replaced with a KW Variant 3 coilover kit engineered specifically for magnetic-ride cars. Independently adjustable compression and rebound, a proper ride height, and a $6,500 answer to a repair bill that has ended plenty of R8 ownerships. The next owner inherits a solved problem instead of a ticking one.
The carbon fiber is comprehensive, not decorative. Over $14,000 of Exotic Car Gear's catalog is on this car. Lift the glass deck lid and the engine bay is finished with a five-piece carbon panel set — right and left panels, air box cover, center panel, and rear firewall — so the V8 sits in a fully dressed bay rather than a factory one. Outside, it wears the GT front spoiler lip in 2x2 weave, carbon side blade panels, carbon mirror housings, the GT rear diffuser, the GTS rear spoiler lip, and full carbon side skirts with splitters and rear winglets. Assembled, it reads as a factory GT-spec car, which is exactly the point.
The corners are right. Staggered Vossen HF-5 Hybrid Forged wheels in a custom Satin Bronze finish — 20x9 flat profile up front, 20x11 deep profile in the rear, both 5x112 — on fresh Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber, 245/30ZR20 front and 305/25ZR20 rear. Black cone-seat bolts and transparent red carbon twill Billet Sport Cap 2.0 center caps finish the detail.
And the cabin has been brought current. The dated OEM head unit is gone in favor of a Kenwood Excelon DMX809S with a 6.8-inch screen and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It was installed properly, with an R8-specific iDatalink Maestro dash kit and a Maestro RR2 dual-CAN interface, so the factory steering wheel controls still do exactly what they did from the factory.
